Consensys Responds To SEC Enforcement Actions

According to Odaily, Consensys has issued an official response to the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) enforcement actions. Consensys expects the SEC to persist in its threats against them, asserting that their MetaMask software interface should be registered as a securities broker.

The SEC has been pursuing an anti-cryptocurrency agenda through temporary enforcement actions. This is the most recent instance of its excessive regulatory conduct, a clear effort to redefine established legal standards through litigation and broaden the SEC's authority. Consensys firmly maintains that the SEC lacks the authority to regulate software such as MetaMask.

The company will continue to actively pursue their case in Texas, as it not only impacts their business but also the future of Web3. This announcement comes at a time of heightened scrutiny of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology by regulatory agencies.
